2 men taken to jail after shots fired in Sunnyside

SUNNYSIDE - Two men were taken to the Sunnyside City Jail after shots were fired in a neighborhood and two vehicles and a house were hit.

Police were called about 10 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of S.W. Crescent Ave. after callers reported hearing shots fired. Officers found spent shell casings and bullet holes in two vehicles and a house, but no one was hurt.

Police surrounded 216 A S.W. Crescent Ave. after witnesses said the suspect had gone inside. Javier Mendoza, 25, was taken into custody for questioning after trying to flee through a back window, said police.

Officers said they later found a Glock .40-caliber handgun that had been reported stolen.

Ymelda Guizar, 20, the resident of the home, also was taken into custody for questioning, police said.
