Pierce County sheriff's deputies were investigating a drive-by shooting that injured a young man Wednesday night in Spanaway.
The shooting occurred about 10:45 p.m. in the 5700 block of 209th Street East, sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said Thursday.
The 18-year-old man was sitting in a parked vehicle when another vehicle drove by and a passenger fired several rounds from a handgun, Troyer said. The man was hit but refused to be taken to a hospital. One bullet hit a nearby house.
Witnesses reported the gunman was wearing a ski mask. The vehicle carrying him was described as a dark green, four-door, early 1990s Buick with chrome spoke wheels.
"We're lucky no one is dead," Troyer said. "There were lots of shots with a high-powered handgun."
