A 21-year-old man was charged today in connection with the Aug. 14 drive-by shooting in the parking lot of the King County Youth Service Center in Seattle. Edouard Dante Motley was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting that left one person wounded.

Motley is in the King County Jail on $1 million bail. If convicted as charged, the sentence range is 198 to 244 months in prison. He will be arraigned Oct. 28.

Motley, who police say is a known gang member, was arrested last Friday.

One youth was wounded from bullets fired from a moving car in the August shooting. The victim suffered received bullet wounds to the arm and buttock, according to Seattle police. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Witnesses said a red bandanna was thrown from the car immediately after the shooting. Authorities believe the shooting stemmed from a gang dispute.

The victim's sister told police that her brother knew the identity of the shooter. The girl told police that the suspect and victim had attended an anger management class together, according to a Seattle police report. Several others identified Motley to police as well, the report said.

Motley was convicted of a non-fatal shooting when he was a teenager. He was released from the state Department of Juvenile Rehabilitation in April.
