One person has been shot dead in the parking lot of the Auburn Top Food & Drug grocery store.

Around 3 a.m. during an altercation between two people, a man pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and opened fire, hitting the other person in the chest. 

The victim collapsed and the shooter took off, running on foot into a nearby housing complex.

Police arrived and found the victim without a pulse. CPR was attempted but the victim had already died.

A police dog was called in and officers are searching the area for the suspect.
