TACOMA - A Pierce County Sheriff's deputy shot a driver Monday after a high-speed chase that ended in Tacoma.

The chase that led to the officer-involved shooting started in Pierce County around 3:15 a.m. at Pacific Ave. S. & 133rd St. S.

The driver took off and led deputies on a 10-minute chase that ended at S. Yakima Ave. & S. 38th St. in Tacoma.

While a massive memorial service for slain Officer Timothy Brenton neared its finish at KeyArena on Friday afternoon, fellow officers with the Seattle Police Department shot a man they believe to be responsible for Brenton's death.

The shooting occurred in Tukwila around 3 p.m., shortly before the memorial service concluded.

A man has been shot to death by Pierce County sheriff's deputies after he reportedly tried to run them down.

Detective Ed Troyer says the 30-year-old Spanaway man was being sought on a warrant charging him with assault on a child.

Troyer says the man reportedly was running other cars off the road Saturday, clipping three with a 1992 Ford Explorer on South Hill, south of Puyallup.

Police say the man killed by police after breaking into a Lake Stevens home apparently was carrying two guns.

Police said Monday that one weapon was found on the man and the other nearby.

Two officers responded to a report of a disturbance about 8 p.m. Sunday and confronted the man at the home where he was shot.

A Tukwila police dog that was stabbed Monday night by a suspected shoplifter who police later shot and wounded is going to survive, a Tukwila police spokesman said today.

"Gino is home and it appears he's going to make a full recovery," Tukwila police Officer Mike Murphy said.

ARLINGTON, Wash. —
Two Snohomish County sheriff's deputies responding to a domestic violence call near Arlington shot an armed man.

A spokesman for the agency investigating the shooting, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz, says a woman had called 911 about 9:45 p.m. Thursday and said she was being threatened by a man with a gun.

Deputies arriving at the home found a man on the porch with a handgun.

A man accused of a string of North Seattle robberies this week — his alleged crime spree ending after he was shot by Seattle police Wednesday — has been released from the hospital and moved to the King County Jail.

The 36-year-old man, who is not being named because he has not been charged, was booked into the downtown Seattle jail for investigation of robbery at 5:17 p.m. on Thursday.

A Woodinville man fatally shot by a King County sheriff's deputy during a domestic-violence call had been "holding a knife," according to the Sheriff's Office.

But the wife of the dead man said Monday her husband wasn't armed when deputies shot him Saturday near their home.

"I can tell you this, this is a wrongful death," the woman said from the doorstep of the couple's home. "The police shot an unarmed man."

Seattle Police have arrested two men and a 17-year-old boy, and were searching for another man Tuesday, after an incident in the Central Area Monday in which an officer shot a man police say tried to run over the officer with a stolen car.

The man was struck in the hand and was taken to Harborview Medical Center, officials say.

A Seattle police officer shot a suicidal man Friday morning after he threatened to kill himself while holding his 20-month-old son hostage inside his North Seattle apartment.

The man, 29, was taken to Harborview Medical Center with what was described as a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the face. The toddler was not harmed.

VERLOT -- An argument over weed control Friday afternoon apparently led to a violent confrontation with Snohomish County sheriff's deputies that left a Verlot man dead.

The trouble reportedly began when a man in his 40s got angry with a Snohomish County road crew that was spraying for noxious weeds along the Mountain Loop Highway, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said. The man threatened the road crew that he would get a gun, Goetz said.

A Lakewood police officer is on leave after fatally shooting an armed man Wednesday night.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office Thursday identified the dead man as 37-year-old Curtis Wetzel.

Five officers were sent to the Mount Tacoma Mobile Home Park at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday to investigate reports of a drunken man assaulting his wife, police spokeswoman Heidi Hoffman said. The woman and the couple's 8-year-old son were able to flee to a neighbor's house.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man shot to death by a sheriff's deputy Monday night.

Kenneth Woodham, 57, died of gunshot wounds to the chest, the office reported Thursday.

The Sheriff's Department and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office are investigating the shooting by deputy Seth Huber. He and a second deputy were put on paid administrative leave after the shooting.
