GUNSHOT IN FOOT YIELDS PERJURY CHARGE

A 22-year-old Reardan man is facing felony charges after shooting himself in the foot Friday and then allegedly lying to authorities about how it happened, according to authorities.

Chase Catelli went to a Davenport, Wash., hospital about 6 p.m. for a gunshot wound to his foot and told Lincoln County authorities that another man had accidentally shot him, the Whitman County Sheriff's Office reported.

The Whitman County prosecutor Tuesday issued warrants against two Moscow, Idaho, men arrested earlier in the day in connection with an overnight shooting at an apartment in Pullman.

Lewis A. Lawrence, 20, was being held at Latah County Jail on three counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree burglary.

Also held was Rylan J. Wallace, 21, on a charge of first-degree rendering criminal assistance.

The shots were fired into a second-story window where engineering services, city projects and public works administration employees spend their days. No one was working there over the weekend, officials said.

Spokane police identified the man on the wrong end of a shootout with a Spokane County Sheriff's deputy early Friday as a convicted felon wanted for escape.

Authorities said Jason L. Mann, 25, fired a gun at a deputy, who returned fire. The deputy was not hurt, and Mann remained in serious condition Friday night at Sacred Heart Medical Center.

An Indianola man was arrested at about midnight Monday after he allegedly held a loaded pistol to another man's throat.

The 39-year-old man came out of his house near the intersection of Greenwood Street and Park Avenue to quiet a couple who were arguing at a nearby tennis court. He said they were waking up his kids.

Police are looking for witnesses and victims after shots were fired Wednesday morning at a north Spokane nightclub, officials said Friday.

A man fired a gun into a parking lot and pointed it at several people about 1 a.m. Wednesday at Elements, 21 E. Lincoln Road, said Spokane police Officer Tim Moses. The man was shouting, claiming gang affiliation, as he got back into his car. No injuries were reported, Moses said.

A Deer Park couple found dead in their home Tuesday morning in an apparent murder-suicide were described by a neighbor as generous, hardworking and friendly.

"We were awfully shocked this morning when this all unfolded," said neighbor Marty Wold.

WALLA WALLA - A 55-year-old man is charged with killing his friend while the two were "drinking heavily" and shooting a pistol during a weekend camping trip in the Blue Mountains.

Robert Lee Nelson is scheduled to enter a plea Sept. 29 in Walla Walla County Superior Court to one count of first-degree manslaughter, said Prosecutor Jim Nagle.

The Walla Walla man remains in jail on $150,000 bail.
